🚨 Theft of Motor Vehicles – South Northamptonshire Residents Alert

Northamptonshire Police would like to make residents across South Northamptonshire aware of a recent increase in Theft of Motor Vehicle offences in the area. Offenders have been targeting a range of vehicles, often during the hours of darkness, and in some cases using technology to gain access without causing visible damage.

We have asked our patrols to pay passing attention to recently targetted areas, but, your vigilance and quick reporting can make a significant difference.

🔐 Crime Prevention Advice

To help reduce the risk of becoming a victim, please consider the following:

• Keep vehicles locked and secure
Double‑check that all doors, windows, and the boot are locked—even when parked on your driveway.

• Use steering wheel locks or security devices
Visible deterrents are often enough to make offenders move on.

• Store keys securely
Keep keyless entry fobs away from doors and windows. Consider Faraday pouches to block signal‑boosting methods used by criminals.

• Park in well‑lit or secure areas
When possible, use garages, gated driveways or areas covered by CCTV.

• Review your home security
Good-quality lighting, CCTV and alarms can deter both vehicle and property crime.

• Remove valuables from your vehicle
Never leave bags, tools, electronics or other items on display.
