Parking Issues at Rushden Primary Academy

Good afternoon, 

I hope you are well. I am writing to you about issues with parking around Rushden Primary Academy on Goulsbra Road around drop off times in the morning and pick up times in the afternoon. These issues include blocking residents driveways; parking on the yellow zigzags outside the school gate; parking on double yellow lines; and parking obstructing the view at junctions. 

These issues have been ongoing for some time, and those causing the issues are showing a basic lack of courtesy to residents and making the situation for other road users more dangerous, especially children attempting to cross the road. As well as this, colleagues from Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service would be obstructed from getting their appliances around the area due to the inconsiderate parking by some. 

When staff at the school and Police Community Support Officers have tried to speak to drivers repeatedly causing issues, they have been met with verbal abuse. This is behaviour unacceptable and cannot continue, and I will be encouraging staff at the school to report any abuse and this will be dealt with. The staff at the school are trying to manage the situation to make the road outside their building as safe as possible for everyone, especially their students. North Northamptonshire Council are the lead agency for parking issues, and Parking Enforcement Agents will be attending and issuing tickets for those in contravention of parking regulations.

I understand everyone has daily pressures and time can be tight when it comes to dropping children off at school and picking them up. This is no excuse however, and everyone should try and be as polite and courteous as possible to residents and other road users.
